Handheld showerheads come in a variety of different models, materials and finishes. They can be used with both cold and hot water, and may also include a valve for controlling the flow, temperature or volume of water.
The type of handheld showerhead holder you choose should be based on your personal needs. For example, if you have arthritis in your shoulder or another condition that limits your ability to reach high, then a lower showerhead holder is likely to be more convenient.
If your shower is located inside a bathtub, then installing the holder on the wall next to (or adjacent to) the shower seat is most likely the best option. Depending on the model of handheld showerhead holder you choose, it can be mounted at either a low or a high height.
How do I determine the height of the holder?
To get an idea of the appropriate showerhead holder height for you, take a standard chair sideways beside any wall in your home. Sit on it and measure from the floor to the top of your head.
Add 5-10 inches to this number and then measure forward from that point. That should be the height of the holder you should install in your shower. It should be high enough to allow you to easily reach the showerhead while showering, but not so high that it prevents the water from running over your body or causing discomfort.
